Wolfchant

Wolfchant is described as "epic pagan metal", but musically they draw influences from alot of music, mostly folk metal, with an edge of thrash, and some black metal parts too. Lemme tell you, this band is fucking catchy. You will have their songs running through your head after a day of listening to them. The guitar lines are epic as shit. Lyrics compel me to slay Christians in the name of Odin and the Gods of Old. Quite well written if you dig pagan stuff. Vocals are in a raw black metal style. "A Pagan Storm" (the second album) also features "choral" viking metal stuff I'm not as fond of, but do add another interesting element to the music. This is one of my favorite bands right now, and I enternally grateful to the Gods that I came across them.

Wolfchant is a younger band in a genre of music dominated by bands that have typically been around for years. This being so, they are kind of seen as a new generation of folk metal. Fans of the genre will know what I'm talking to, this is a quite a bit heavier than Flintroll. Think a better version of "A Pagan Reign" (another band worth checking out), with better songwriting, production, less sloppyness, less keyboards and false shit of the sort.

I've decided to include both of their albums, since one is more popular and the other I seem to enjoy more. Their first one, "Bloodied tales of a Disgraced Land", is my favorite, A little more raw than their second album, slightly lower production, and a little more blackened. Their Second, "A Pagan Storm", will appeal a little more to fans of Viking metal, but is more than worth checking out, especially if you're into the whole choral chanting thing.

So, I hope no one passes up this album because of a closed mind, yeah they're not punk, but if you haven't caught on yet, this blog isn't %100 punk. But be sastisfied, we will never post something that we don't absolutely think is awesome. So if you've liked our previous posts, trust us on this one, Descend into Vahalla with Pride and Honour and jam some Wolfchant!

Rwake - If You Walk Before You Crawl, You Crawl Before You Die

Rwake is by far one of my favorite bands. I first got into their latest album, Voice of Omens (which I HIGHLY suggest you check out!) I've decided to post this album though, since it was released before their Relapse days. For fans of Neurosis, Dystopia, Mastodon, Grief, Eyehategod, and more, Rwake hails from Little Rock, Arkansas to blow you away to hell. Their riffs are among the catchiest I've ever heard, and many refer to them as the "new Dystopia" due to the dark elements in their music and lyrics. They tend to have a more musical element to them that Dystopia lacks which doesn't take away from their intensity, but adds to it in that perfect sort of way. There is no band whose songs get stuck in my head more often. I'm serious, you better fucking download this and also download their other albums (especially Voice of Omens...which I'll probably end up posting as well.)

MOST EPIC POST EVER!

Ok guys, we've been on a little hiatus for awhile, Hurricane Ike descended upon Houston, the city we hail from, and caused massive power outages being the storm of doom that it was. I was not able to access the internet for a week, then God is dead fest came along, some shits gone down, schools been busy for the both of us, and I've been working alot. I know this kills some of our devoted blog punx, so I've decided to make a very delicious post for you guys to make up for it. Enjoy.

Skarp - RequiemSkarp is an innovative female-fronted grind band from California so unique they coined the term "blackout grind" to describe their style of music. Really, I have yet to hear a band out there that sounds like skarp does. Great shit. Punk as fuck, heavy and fast, and even some ska parts. Puts on a very good show too if I must say. This is my favorate release by them, and what they mostly play in their set.

Warbringer - War without End
Warbringer is straight thrash metal, nothing else about it, there's been a few people who've been talking down and judging about the lack of thrash in our blog, well here the fuck it is. Something I've been reserving this one for a while but now its unleashed, expect more thrash in the future.

Warbringer - War without End

Ekkaia - Demasiado Tarde Para Pedir Perdón

If you're not listening to Ekkaia yet, you need to be. This is some of the most intense, melodic D-beat you'll ever hear. Awesome guitar work, their vocalist has that irresistable scream that seems to fit so well with the sound. Band It seems Ictus (sadly) was not one of most popular post, though it has done alright. Well we're gonna give spanish d-beat another try because that country has some of the best shit these days. I can't see how anyone could not love this band, unless of course you're not into punk at all, in which case you probably wouldn't be reading this blog. This band shares members with Ictus, Cop on fire, Black Panda and just about any other band from spain that deserves noting.

GOD IS DEAD FEST

This is taking place in the city that the writers of this blog hail from. We come to your cities for your fests, it is time that you come to ours. Really, we hope to make this more of a gathering than just a show. We know there is several fests around the country with a similar lineup, but if theres one to go to, go to this. Especially if you like tofu and circle pits, as that is what we live and die for in H-town.

LINK FIXED! Swarrrm - Nise Kyûseishu Domo

This band IS everything I like about Japanese hardcore. The only thing consistent about this band is their constant inconsistancy. Make any sense? It shouldn't and neither does this band's music...But that's what makes them fucking awesome! I first heard their split with Muga of of Crustmas's blog, and upon letting their insanity bounce off my ear drums, I downloaded this album. Lots of blasting, incase you were wondering, high tuned snare, and the vocalist sounds like he's still wearing his straitjacket. Intense as fuck all the way through. Short lived melodic parts at times, only where it fits and not lacking tens of incoherent growls in the background. LISTEN TO IT!

Tsjuder - Demonic Possession

Ok, I really don't care if you don't like black metal, it has proven to be one of the most diverse genre, both with a variety of lyrical themes (from eco-feminism, to satanism, to paganism, political, and sadly, National Socialist), and a whole spectrum of sounds. So if you aren't listening to black metal yet, you suck and you clearly aren't listening to the right stuff.

This is Tsjuder, some of the fastest, most obliterating black metal my ears have ever been destroyed by. Fans of grind should check this out, as they know how to keep up the pace. The lyrics are straight up satanic, so don't worry, you aren't listen to NSBM. Don't expect to find any of that false shit on this blog. Unfortunately, Tsjuder broke up a few years ago, but their drummer still plays in an incredible black band called Ragnarok, who are equally worth checking out. This is my favorite album by these guys. Enjoy.

Ictus - Impervium

We'll let your eardrums heal a little bit from the last two posts. This my friend is Spanish D-beat destroyers known as Ictus. You may think you know melodic D-beat, but Ictus takes that whole sound that's being oh so overused today and gives it a fresh, new, shiny feel. This LP, Impervium, is 39 minutes long, and is all one song. Some might say thats a little ridiculous, but the song is really worth listening to all the way through. There are no slow bullshit fill-ins either. This song is intense all the way through. If there is one song that is essential to your Ictus collection, it is this. From the super-catchy melodic riffs to the punishing heavy ones, this album is one of the most solid songs I have ever heard.
